Date Change to October 19th
We have had to move the October Gaskell ball to the 19th. Sorry for any inconvenince this may cause, and we hope you can still join us.
The Gaskell Ball is the bay area's oldest and finest formal ball. If you want to experience vintage dancing to live music with elegant costumes in a beautiful 1920's ballroom, make sure to join us for the next Gaskell Ball.
Our next ball is our Halloween ball, our largest and most spectacular event of the year. While you can come in semi-formal attire, Halloween is a chance to shine, so start finding/making your costume now. And bring your camera, as there we be all sorts of interesting costumes to be seen.
Now is the time for cosplay, historical costumes, future costumes, steampunk, and an array of other costumes.
Of course, do bear in mind that the goal is to dance in the costumes, so make sure you can move and turn without tripping! And no sharp, pointy parts that might damage the other dancers will be allowed!
At 3:30, an afternoon dance class. This is highly recommended if you are new to Victorian dancing, or would like to refresh your memory. The class runs until 6pm.
At 7:30, the doors re-open for the ball, and at 7:45, we have a half-hour evening dance class, with introduction to the Victorian waltz, polka and schottishe.
At 8:30, the dancing begins to live music by The Brassworks Band. There are four sets of dancing, with three 20 minutes breaks, ending at midnight.
Admission to the ball is $20. The afternoon dance class is $10. The evening class is included with the admission to the ball
This is a formal ball. See the costuming page for more details.
